Gold ground
For paintings to last, thorough and highly specialized preparation is essential. Mural Arts goes to great length to make artwork that lasts. All surfaces are meticulously prepared with the highest quality materials. Once the surface is prepared and the drawing is refined; most of the murals and paintings are under-painted with a "gold ground".

Gold and silver leafing
Mural Arts has studied and reproduced the Pre-Renaissance work of ecclesiastical painters, muralists and old masters. Many of these early religious artworks were accomplished using gold leaf or silver leaf and paint on wood panel. Whether the job is mural restoration of an old ecclesiastical painting or a modern deco painting on canvas; experience and a working knowledge of paint chemistry is crucial.

Mosaic
Glass and marble tile mosaic is another ancient medium Mural Arts has mastered. Even very large projects can be produced in the studio, shipped in sections and installed with very little touch-up required. Painted mosaics on a fresco surfaced muslin ground offer the look and feel of mosaic where budget, lead time or structural limitations would otherwise prevent it.

Fine art reproduction
The technique developed by Mural Arts to reproduce old world, traditional and historic tapestries as painted tapestries has been one of our most successful creative endeavors. The painted tapestries offer design and color flexibility, short lead time and affordability not possible with a woven tapestry. The painted tapestries hang loose on the wall and made of heavy fabric are acoustically absorbent; much needed in today’s hard surface environments. Painted on heavy Belgian linen the tapestries are naturally fire retardant, durable, suitable for commercial use and easy to clean.

Tapestry installation
The tapestries usually hang loose on the wall, typical to woven tapestries. The edges are laminated; rod pockets are laminated and sewn to the tops. Occasionally rod pockets are added to the bottom as well.

Very large mural installation
Mural installation methods and techniques are a specialty of Mural Arts. Today’s construction and remodeling world requires that all labor intensive products and finishes be created offsite, installed quickly and efficiently to code meeting specification. With years of experience as mural installation specialists the mural installers have installed over 250,000 square feet of wall murals and ceiling murals.
